Homeschool Week 36: Ocean Animals

Our theme is Ocean Animals this week and it was extra fun because there was a field trip involved! We surprised the kids with a trip to the Aquarium to see some ocean animals up close!

They loved the Aquarium! And besides Rose screaming “NEMO WHERE ARE YOU?” every 5 seconds they were very well behaved and enjoyed seeing everything. We did spend the most time checking out the penguins though. Of course we did our normal work as well for this week.

Vincent liked the How Many? and I Spy activities the most. But, there were a lot of other really good ones too. There was also a sorting game that was really fun where he had to sort the ocean animals from the land animals and a lot of counting and number practice ones too.

Here are the resources we used:

The Octopus craft was also really fun! It was easy enough for my son to do by himself and it was great cutting practice.

We also did one of our favorite activities. Sticker story telling! Both kids came up with stories for their pictures. Vin’s sounded a lot like the plot to Finding Nemo mixed with a some Little Mermaid. But, hey at least he tried.

We also read some really great books this week and was a great way to kick off our summer reading! Here are our recommendations for books to go with this theme:

And that’s it for this week! Make sure to check out my Instagram for more fun stuff from this week and more about our trip to the Jenkinson’s Aquarium!
