Homeschool Weeks 9 & 10: Thanksgiving

For the next week and a half our theme for homeschool is Thanksgiving! This week our focus is learning about gratitude and being thankful, and next week will be more about the Thanksgiving holiday and traditions.

I got a ton of books from the library as per usual. I also found a Berenstain Bears video on YouTube to add in for some extra fun this week. I will link everything at the bottom of the page.

Honestly, I don’t know why I insist on making everything harder than it has to be. When I started planning for this week I made a huge list of things I needed to make and do. It was super overwhelming. I want things to be perfect and I want the kids to have fun but, I also don’t always have extra time to make everything myself.

After last weeks success finding so many great resources on Teacherspayteachers.com I went there first. I found so many amazing (and free!) activities for this week. There is everything from Thanksgiving math and spelling to fun Thanksgiving puzzles. I even found a super cute hand turkey poem and craft that I know my son is going to love.

I did wind up making some things though. Specifically the worksheets and activities I know my son looks forward to doing. (Mostly math or numbers.) I also made a sheet where he could draw a picture of something he is thankful for.

Unrelated but, my son does have more than one shirt. I just realized in all of the photos I take he is wearing one of two Thomas and Friends shirts. He is just super into Thomas, hates shirts with buttons and we aren’t going anywhere so it’s not worth the fight.

He drew a picture of his family. Which is super sweet but, he also left me out of it so like also, rude. ( It’s like I didn’t even cry in the bathroom about it or anything.)

Besides that it’s shaping up to be a pretty fun week of Thanksgiving themed learning. If you want to see more follow me on Instagram!
