Summer Learning: Busy Binder Update

We have officially been on summer vacation for about a week now and it has been great! Lot’s of time to swim in the pool and hang out. But, I want to make sure Vincent is super prepared for Kindergarten in the fall. And that what we worked on this past year stays fresh in his mind. Plus, our days go so much better when we follow some sort of a schedule.

Three days each week during the summer we will be working out of his busy binder. We will continue work through our Kindergarten ready checklist touching on a little bit of everything. But, the main things we will be focusing on are:

  • Letter Recognition (upper and lower case letters)
  • Letter Sounds
  • Numbers 1-20 (writing, recognition, and counting)
  • Personal Information (name, phone number, birthday, etc.)

I made new worksheets to update his busy binder that align with what I wanted him to focus on. Also, some of the stuff that was in there from the beginning of the year wasn’t challenging enough for him anymore. You can download the new worksheets below!

Included is a binder cover, numbers 1-20 worksheets, upper and lower case letter match and a number chart. I like to laminate these types of sheets. Then have him use a dry erase marker to write. Easy clean up and we can use these sheets again and again.

We also have summer reading to do! We love the library and try to go each week to pick out new books. I let the kids pick out whatever books they like (and then I sneak a couple extra in there that I want to read to them). So, I made a summer reading chart to keep track of what we have read. (I do this for myself too so I don’t wind up rereading something on accident!) For Vincent’s chart I added columns so we can keep track of what we read to him, what we read together, and what he can read on his own.

You can download the summer reading spreadsheet here!
