We are in the garden this week! During quarantine we got very into gardening. Well, not me because, dirt. But, the rest of my family really enjoys it. They all have a great time checking on the plants, fighting over watering cans, and yelling at birds. The garden was pretty impressive though. They grew five pumpkins that we initially thought were watermelons and saved us from having to trek out to a pumpkin patch this past fall.
We started early this year and let my son pick out what he wanted to grow. It’s all nicely categorized and labeled now but, I know in August we are going to be playing a game I like to call; Is this a zucchini or a mutant eggplant?
Seeing how much my son enjoys plants, knowing a good majority of the work was done, and that I was safe from having to actually plant anything, it was the perfect time for this theme!
There are so many great resources for this theme! Our favorite was the name garden craft. Putting it together was a lot of fun. And it was a great way for him to practice his name and his cutting skills. There is also a rhyme garden, a garden sort, and some counting activities. All the activities are linked below.

Of course we also have some book recommendations! We love the Curious Garden. It is such a cute book! We read it every day this week.
That’s it for this week! Make sure to check back next week for another homeschool theme!
